A UPS MD-11 cargo plane crashed during takeoff at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville, killing at least 14 people and injuring several others.
The aircraft, bound for Honolulu, experienced catastrophic failure shortly after departure, causing a large fire fueled by tens of thousands of gallons of jet fuel. Emergency crews quickly responded, and nearby businesses sustained damage.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating, with flight recorders recovered for analysis.
Airport operations have partially resumed, while recovery efforts and support for victims’ families continue as officials work to determine the cause of the crash.
